All over the world, exhibitions are a model of the market, a place where supply and demand meet, they give the participants a unique opportunity of presentation, provide personal contact with the audience of potential customers, and are an important factor of business activity.
Exhibition activity reflects the real state of affairs in the relevant sector of the economy, shows the dynamics and direction of development, prospects and problems.
On 27 December 1968, an event happened in Minsk, which formed the basis for the development of exhibition activities in Belarus – the exhibition pavilion at 27 Y. Kupala St. was commissioned, where the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh BSSR) was opened. The permanent exhibition was located there for many years.
In autumn 1996, at the initiative of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, the exhibition complex at 14 Masherova Ave. was transferred to the Republican Exhibition Center, and on 11 February 1998, the REC was renamed to the National Exhibition Center "BelExpo" of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate.
New times brought new issues. The economy of the country faced the question of how to organize production and sell the produced goods, services, scientific and technical developments more efficiently. Naturally, these challenges could not pass by the NEC "BelExpo" the main activity of which was and still is the organization and holding of international, specialized, diversified exhibitions and fairs.

Today the UE "BelExpo" is a modern, self-financed enterprise, the state exhibition enterprise of Belarus aimed at holding exhibitions at a high European level with the use of the latest advances of electronic technology and design solutions. We try to create conditions for the exhibitor to work effectively during the exhibitions. Another issue of primary importance, which we constantly try to solve productively, is to ensure the convergence of interests of producers and consumers within the framework of the exhibitions, which makes us carry out extensive market studies in the field of exhibition business and tendencies of national economy development, thus determining the specialization of the directions. After all, most exhibitors can solve many problems at the exhibition, establish strong business connections, since hundreds of enterprises and companies of various forms of ownership meet here.
Throughout its history, the UE "BelExpo" strives to make participation in exhibitions as convenient and efficient as possible for exhibitors, including the representatives of numerous foreign enterprises that come to exhibitions in Belarus. One of the key features of exhibitions is that any exhibitor can get the widest range of services, including the provision of stands, their decoration, cleaning, security, provision of a variety of exhibition equipment, furniture, appliances, high-technology services and equipment. Almost all the exhibitions of the UE "BelExpo" offer large-scale business and educational programs, including conferences, seminars, master classes, trainings. Sometimes exhibition programs include cultural events, which make busy exhibition days not only useful, but also enjoyable, giving the exhibitors an additional opportunity for informal communication and closer acquaintance.
Every specialized event has its own features of exhibition activities, it makes each exhibition a unique event. The successful implementation of large-scale exhibition projects (international, national, and intersectoral exhibitions) largely depends on the joint efforts of interested ministries, departments, and social structures. State support ensures social and political significance, the level and scale of the exhibition, its events are the basis for the solution of a broad range of issues, one of the ways of lobbying, a way to discuss corporate problems, which contributes to the development of state policy aimed at supporting and stimulating the industry presented at the exhibition. Active cooperation with foreign producers of goods and services and exhibition companies is carried out in order to attract foreign participants to the exhibitions held by the UE "BelExpo". Long-term cooperation connects the enterprise with the Russian Federation, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, China, etc.
No doubt, the organization of exhibition activities is a huge task, requiring well-coordinated work of the whole team of the UE "BelExpo".
