The year 2009 was difficult and tense. However, the employees of the enterprise rather imaginatively and rationally withstood the difficulties and it     gave the results. NEC “BelExpo” successfully completed the tasks and exceeded all production figures of the year 2008. About 70 exhibition events were held in the exhibition halls situated in 27 Ya.Kupaly str. and 14 Pobediteley ave. Most of them were organized by our company. About 3300 domestic exhibitors and 199 foreign participants from 30 countries, mainly from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany and Poland took part in the exhibitions in 2009.

In 2009 the exhibition projects “Hunting and Fishing”, “Expobuilding. Spring”, “Leisure”, “Lesdrevtech”, “Beltexlegprom”, “Furniture”, “Prodexpo” and “Kultbythoztovary” were held. It should be noted that the quantity of participants in the mentioned exhibitions increased. For the first time in the republic appeared exhibitions dedicated to the development of the real estate market in the Republic of Belarus (“Real Estate and Investments” and “Housing”). We managed to fulfill our dream – to hold a substantial exhibition on the theme of processing of secondary materials and waste products (“Recycling”). A number of fairs devoted to the sale of domestic goods “Buy the Belarusian!” and “Made in Belarus” were also successfully carried out. They were held quarterly and enjoyed great popularity among the visitors.

The 5th International exhibition of arms and military machinery “MILEX-2009” became the pride of our company. It was attended by 145 enterprises from the Republic of Belarus, Russian Federation, Ukraine and Armenia. The exposition occupied the territory of 1720 sq.m. indoors and 4190 sq.m. outdoors. Ten foreign representations accredited in the Republic of Belarus took part in the exhibition. “MILEX-2009” became an important event in the scientific, technical and socio-political life of the city of Minsk and the Republic of Belarus. It was highly appreciated by the foreign official delegations, exhibitors and visitors.

Analyzing the development of exhibition industry in the Republic of Belarus, one can note a number of interesting and important for us tendencies. The influx of new exhibitors, who haven’t participated in “BelExpo” exhibitions before, is observed. It means that the renewal process began. New mobile specialized events aimed at a certain circle of specialists appeared. They are closely linked to the congress events and have good prospects in the new year.

In 2010 NEC “BelExpo” plans to finally overcome the crises of 2009, increase the effectiveness of exhibitions and fairs, organize new exhibition projects in the city of Minsk and the regions of the Republic of Belarus.
